Solunto ruins
Sul monte Catalfano, a circa 2 Km da Santa Flavia, inserite in uno splendido contesto panoramico, si trovano le rovine dell’antica Solunto, città ellenistico-romana costruita intorno alla metà del IV secolo a.C. e abbandonata alla fine del II sec. D.C.
On Mount Catalfano, about 1,5 km from Santa Flavia, placed in a splendid panoramic setting, lie the ruins of Solunto, Hellenistic-Roman city built in the middle of the fourth century BC and it abandoned in the late second century. A.D.
The beaches
La costa di Santa Flavia è molto speciale perché è pieno di piccole spiagge e baie. Le migliori che si possono visitare sono spiaggia Kafara all'interno della baia Capo Zafferano e la spiaggia del piccolo borgo di Sant'Elia.
La bellissima spiaggia di Mondello invece dista 35 km mentre la lunga spiaggia di Cefalù si trova a 40 minuti di auto.
The coast of Santa Flavia is very special because it's full of small beaches and bays. The best ones that you can visit are Kafara beach inside Capo Zafferano bay and the beach inside the small village of Sant'Elia. The amazing beach of Mondello is 35 km far way and the long beach of Cefalù is 40 minutes by car.
Monuments and history
Il paese sorse nel XVII secolo, con il prolificare delle ville aristocratiche. Era di moda, in quel tempo, passare le vacanze estive fuori porta, in mezzo ai profumi e ai colori estivi che si confondono, magicamente, con i resti archeologici della rupestre Solunto.
E così, da quattro secoli, Santa Flavia è diventata, per molti palermitani e vacanzieri, sinonimo di turismo, in un contesto paesaggistico che vede il mare e la sabbia da un lato, le colline dall'altro, e all'interno ville e chiese settecentesche.
The town was founded in the seventeenth century, with the sire of the aristocratic villas. It was fashionable at that time, to spend their summer vacation out of town, amid the scents and summer colors that blend magically with the archaeological ruins of Solunto rock. And so, for four centuries, Santa Flavia has become, for many vacationers and Palermo, synonymous with tourism, in a landscape that sees the sea and the sand on the one hand, the hills on the other, villas and churches of eighteenth century.
The Port and the seaside
Il porto si trova perfettamente al centro della costa di Santa Flavia, lì si può vedere la vita e le barche fo i pescatori. In questa zona si possono trovare tutti i ristoranti, dove gustare il pesce fresco, ma anche bar e un pub. È possibile fare una passeggiata in riva al mare a mangiare un gelato locale o seduti e realxing in uno dei chioschi o bar.
The port is perfectly in the middle of the coast of Santa Flavia, there you can see the life and the boats for the fishermans.
In this area you can find all the restaurants, where taste the fresh fish, but also bar and pubs.
You can take a walk on the seaside eating a local ice cream or sitting and realxing in one of the kiosks or bars.
